While visiting Kathmandu, Nepal over the summer university break, I had the great opportunity and privilege to visit Shining Stars and Brighter Futures Children’s Homes. I was just in time to celebrate their 5th birthday (which is a celebration of all the children's birthdays as well). In this picture I am hanging out with three of the lovely, intelligent folk who live there. I brought along a photo album full of images of New Zealand, Eastbourne and my family, the Bolgers. I can't describe well enough the joy on their faces to see such foreign things like blue seas and green hills. New Zealand is such a "good land" they said. They're right of course, we are very lucky. But the kids seem to be very happy in their own little piece of Nepali paradise too. They really are on their way to much Brighter Futures.
